Medical Weight Loss

What is Medical Weight Loss?

Medical weight loss treats excess weight as a clinical condition and delivers a personalized plan under licensed supervision. At Sereniva, weight loss medical care starts with a focused clinical assessment and, when appropriate, lab results to understand metabolism, hormones, and nutrient status. We then create a plan with clear nutrition targets, joint friendly activity, and prescription support with FDA approved anti obesity medications when appropriate, delivered through secure telehealth.

This medical weight loss approach is built for lasting results. Regular telehealth follow ups and periodic labs help adjust dosing, prevent side effects, and keep progress safe. By aiming for fat loss while preserving muscle, it can improve appetite control, energy, daily function, and long term markers such as A1c, lipids, and blood pressure. Weight Loss Medical Care is led by Gina Petrucelli, a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner with more than a decade of clinical experience and integrative training.

Medical Weight Loss Consultations

Sereniva consultations turn your clinical assessment into a clear action plan. Via secure telehealth, a clinician reviews your history and goals and orders labs if indicated. You then receive specific nutrition and movement targets and a safe path forward, including medication education and a defined follow up schedule. What to Expect:

Telehealth Follow Up for Medical Weight Loss

Ongoing management and progress check-ins keep your care safe and effective. Each telehealth follow up for medical weight loss focuses on tracking progress and making only the adjustments you need.

What’s Included:

Nutrition and Movement Recommendations

Our nutrition guidance for weight loss focuses on simple, clinical targets you can follow day to day. A nurse practitioner sets protein goals, daily fiber, and hydration targets, then pairs them with sustainable movement tailored to your fitness level, joint tolerance, and life stage, including pregnancy or postpartum. Light habit tracking and accountability nudges help you stay consistent between visits.

What You’ll Receive:

Prescription Support For Medical Weight Loss

Safe, clinician-guided medication can be a powerful part of medical weight loss. We evaluate whether GLP-1/GIP or other FDA-approved anti-obesity medications are appropriate for you, then manage therapy through secure telehealth for safety and results.

If medication is a fit, we set a personalized dosing plan, adjust carefully through titration, and help prevent side effects with clear guidance. We also coordinate with partner pharmacies and handle prior-auth when applicable to keep care moving.

What’s Included:

Lab Work Coordination

We order and review labs to keep care safe and personalized for medical weight loss. Panels are individualized; typical baseline categories include metabolic and glycemic (CMP, A1c, fasting glucose, fasting insulin), lipids, blood counts and nutrient status (CBC, ferritin or iron, vitamin D, B12), thyroid function (TSH with free T4 and free T3; thyroid antibodies if indicated), and hormone testing when appropriate. Additional tests such as AM cortisol, CRP, or a pregnancy test may be added. Labs are usually repeated every 3 to 6 months, or sooner based on medication and individual risk.

Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that starting a new wellness journey comes with questions. Here, you’ll find clear answers about our services, care model.

GLP-1 and GLP-2 receptor agonists are FDA-approved medications originally developed for diabetes and gut health. In recent years, they’ve been increasingly prescribed for weight loss due to their effects on appetite regulation and metabolism. Sereniva offers prescription guidance for eligible patients based on a medical evaluation.

Yes, when used under proper medical supervision. Like any medication, GLP-1s and GLP-2s can come with side effects. That’s why all Sereniva prescriptions are monitored by a board-certified nurse practitioner with experience in weight loss and chronic condition management.

Not necessarily. Our approach is to use medication as a tool—not a crutch. Many patients use GLP-1s as a jumpstart while building long-term habits related to nutrition, movement, and mindset. Every plan is customized to your goals.

Your initial telehealth consult will include a review of your medical history, current symptoms,
goals, and lifestyle habits. We’ll also discuss potential treatment options, lab work if needed, and
how Sereniva’s care model works. Follow-up care is tailored to each patient’s progress and
comfort.

Consultations are cash-pay only. However, most lab work and prescriptions can be submitted to
your insurance provider. We’ll help coordinate what’s eligible.

Sereniva specializes in medical weight loss but takes a whole-body, sustainable approach. That
includes supporting emotional health, energy levels, and nutritional wellness along the way.
